... you finally figure out what that notch in the fuel door is for.

I'm kind of embarrassed this took me nine months of ownership to realize...

Kinja'd!!!

Ever discover a "feature" like this on one of your cars before?

The first time I pulled into a full service station with my car the guy freaked out that he couldn't find the gas cap.

Capless.

I found out my Forester has an ultra rare JDM business card holder. Not even kidding, ultra rare JDM only part.

I took me about 6 years to figure out that the little symbol on the gas gauge pointed to the side that the fuel filler was on.

Kinja'd!!!

I later asked my father if he was aware of this and he was unaware of this in his 30+ years of driving. So glad it only took me 6 years to figure out.

The 600 has this fancy rack like holder for the gas cap on the lid, but most of the time, attendants put it on top of the pump. As long as it doesn't get lost, whatever, but yesterday on the way back from CT, the attendant where I stopped for gas actually used it. I was a little amused by that.

My dad pointed that out to me when I started driving and would invariably pull up to the wrong side of whatever I was driving.

I've told my mother about this several times and still, no matter what, even if she is driving the same car she has been driving for years on end, she will always do the "what side is my gas thingy on?" and inevitably play the "try and look in your mirror to figure out where the filler is" game

The best was when I, me, the car owner, forgot it was capless.

I had been traveling for the week (and filling up a rental) and needed gas when I got back. I was like, wtf WHO TAKES A GAS CAP!?!?!?

After two years of ownership I discovered the vents in my wife's Escape that blow on your "gentlemans area" lap. If you look at the picture below they are pretty clearly visible below the radio controls and above the HVAC controls. In real life they are hidden by the edge of the radio controls so you don't see the vents at all. I only found them because I was waiting for my wife to get in and wondered why it looked like the edge of a vent wheel sticking out below the dash.

they are very effective at cooling you off. So much so that even after we found them we have only opened them for minute or so at a time.
